Performance degradation due to protective clothing in the heat

conference paper
People often forget that increased protection goes to the expense of task performance. This study quantified the performance decrement due to protective clothing for various military tasks. A ballistic vest increased the physiological load and thus decreased performance mainly through its weight; chemical protective clothing decreased the heat loss leading to performance degradation. A protective mask negatively affects the mood of the wearer.
