Dutch End of Life Vehicles (ELV) represent a large waste flow that consisted of approximately 133,000 cars in 20232. In 2025, this number increased to approximately 172,000 . The average age at which a car is scrapped in the Netherlands was 19 years and 7 months at the end of 2023. Therefore, the current volumes of collected waste related to vehicles reflect the composition of vehicles that were introduced to the market 20 years ago.
