Situation awareness: theory, metrics and user support
conference paper
Situation awareness (SA) is frequently mentioned in relation to ergonomics and as explanation for numerous human errors, ranging from plain crashes to losing one's way on the world wide web. The increasing complexity of the society and workplace, will also lead to an increasing role for SA. However, despite the fact that most designers have a concept of SA, there is no clear and undisputed definition. The paper starts with describing the SA model by Endsley (1995). This model is most widely accepted, and emphasizes three components (or levels) of SA: perception, comprehension, and prediction. Furthermore, other human factors issues are briefly mentioned, including: human error, SA metrics, interface design, user support, and training issues.
Dit paper geeft een introductie op het concept situationeel bewustzijn, de gangbare modellen, de meetinstrumenten, de rol in het ontwerpproces en de mogelijkheden om gebruikers te ondersteunen.
