Ergonomisch ontwerpen en de opmars van digitale mensmodellen [Ergonomic design and the advance of digital models]
conference paper
From an ergonomic perspective, the quality of a CAD-design is determined by the validity of the applied digital human model. A brief description of recent research shows that the collar bone of the BMD HMS (Boeing McDonnell Douglas Human Modelling System) model has insufficient length. Also the model doesn't take into account the deformation of soft tissue in e.g. seated postures. Besides, attention is paid to the development of specific ergonomic knowledge to support the designer and user of digital human models. A relation between gaze direction and head posture is described, as an illustration of natural human postures. Beside the spatial orientation of the head, the evaluation criteria show that the orientation of the head with respect to the torso should be studied as well.
