Prestaties op peil houden tijdens 'sustained operations' : De rol van groepsprocessen [How to keep performance 'up to the mark' during sustained operations : the role of group processes]
article
When people have to work clock round for longer periods of time, fatigue can have strong negative effects on the task performance. Group processes in the unit can partly compensate fatigue effects. From studies carried out by TNO it became clear that people keep performing better when there is someone present during task performance, instead of all alone. Furthermore, it turned out that group performance can be kept up to the mark by making the individual performance salient. This can be reached either by giving group members the prospect of an individual bonus, or by providing the group members with feedback on all group members' individual results, instead of on the group result only.
