Earthquake in Anthropometry : The view from the Epicenter
article
Traditional anthropometry - measuring the body wit calipers, tape measures and other hand tools - has been used for centuries to define sizes, ranges and linear dimensions of the body, and to im-prove the fit of clothing, equipment and work stations. Advances in anthropometric technology will soon make it possible to use 3-D techniques in all phases of development, from design concept through end production. Apparel, automobiles, office furniture, sports equipment, prosthetics, and conceivably anything else people wear or use could soon be designed and produced completely in a 3-D environment. A review is given of the current status and future possibilities of 3-D anthropo-metry.
