A conceptual approach for the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of occupational health

This paper describes the conceptual and methodological framework for research project on the quality of occupational health care (OHC) in The Netherlands. Before going into the main subject, the paper starts by giving some background information on OHC in The Netherlands. This information can be divided into three parts: first, some facts about the scope of the care; second, something about the content of the care; third, about the ongoing debate on the care being delivered. After this background information the paper goes into: fourth, the development of the concepts of quality and effectiveness of OHC; fifth, the measurement problem of effectiveness; sixth, the measurement approach used in the study; seventh and finally, the empirical projects which have been planned and are being partly carried out now.
