Physical aging and electrical properties of polymers

article
The basic aspects of the physical aging of amorphous polymers are explained and illustrated by results on the mechanical creep of rigid PVC. By measurements of the isothermal polarization and depolarization currents, and of the TSD of aged and non-aged samples of PVC, it is shown that physical aging also affects the electrical properties of polymers. The effect of high mechanical stresses on the TSD of PVC electrets is also discussed. © 1977.
