Prevention of musculoskeletal disorders at the workplace: a guide for planning and developing a health communication programme

Communication can play an important role in disease prevention and health promotion. However, communicating effectively about health is a difficult task. Health information is often complex to comprehend. Therefore, careful planning and development of health communication programmes is important to avoid undesirable effects and to assure that the activities have the greatest potential for success. To guide occupational health professionals with planning a health communication programme on prevention of musculoskeletal disorders a planner's guide has been developed. In the presentation some key principles of planning and developing a health communication programme are discussed and examples are given.
