Smart buildings, powered by IoT, AI, and advanced automation, offer significant gains in efficiency, comfort, and sustainability. However, they also expose organizations to new privacy, security, and ethical risks. This article integrates lessons from current international standards, major cyber-physical incidents, and the Brains for Buildings (B4B) project, presenting a practical ten-step framework for practitioners. Emphasis is placed on actionable strategies rooted in international standards and best practices to ensure digital resilience and stakeholder trust in the built environment.
