A medical expedition with special reference to tuberculosis among the Oajana and Trio Amerindians in South-east Surinam

article
The 2 tribes of Amerindians concerned live in 4 villages in a remote region of Surinam, having little contact with the outer world. Their way of life is primitive; clothing is not worn, and their food consists of meat, fish, bananas, cassava and other tubers. The diet seems to be sufficient, as signs of malnutrition have not been observed. The climate is tropical, with high temperatures throughout the year. The total annual rainfall is over 2, 000 mm.
