Chromogenic substrates for cholinesterases : 1-[2-Thiazolylazo]-2-acetoxybenzene derivatives

For the spectrophotometric assay of butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) (EC 3.1.1.8) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) (EC 3.1.1.7) a new type of chromogenic substrates has been developed. The synthesis and the BuChE- and AChE-catalyzed hydrolysis of 1-[2-thiazolylazo]-2-acetoxy-5-methylbenzene dimethyl sulfate and 1-[2-thiazolylazo]-2-acetoxy-4-dimethylaminobenzene methiodide are described. © 1972.
