Correction to: Nature Communicationshttps://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-025-55980-1, published online 14 January 2025 In the version of the article initially published, there was a calculation error in deriving confidence intervals as percentages using the percentage-transformed coefficients and standard errors rather than converting the confidence intervals from logarithm response ratio to percentages. The mean soil organic carbon changes remain the same in both approaches, but the correct method results in asymmetric error bars around the mean. Figures 1–4 have been updated, the confidence intervals reported within parentheses in the Abstract and sections of the Results have been updated, and the Supplementary Information has been updated. The average soil organic carbon changes remain unaffected, as do all statistical significances of the results. For transparency, the original figures, affected text sections and Supplementary Information are available alongside this amendment. The updates are reflected in the HTML and PDF versions of the article. © The Author(s) 2025
