The Breckpot calculator for calculating efficiency differences. The systematic error introduced by curvature of sector curves
article
The computation of efficiency differences of spectrum lines in step-sector spectra may be carried out by means of a special calculator according to Breckpot. The employment of this calculator is based on the assumption that the sector curves are linear and parallel. Curvature of sector curves, which is very common, introduces a systematic error, the order of magnitude of which is determined by an approximative calculation. An exact treatment is given for a special - extremely simple - case. The approximative treatment yields values which are somewhat high, but of the right order of magnitude. The influence of the systematic error on the accuracy of concentrations reported is discussed. Copyright © 1949 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
