Wide-angle analytical starting function for the GFPE method

conference paper
An analytical starting function for the GFPE method is derived, which gives accurate results up to elevation angles of typically 60 degrees. For comparison, the usual Gaussian starting function gives accurate results up to elevation angles of typically 10 degrees. The wide-angle starting function is useful for computations of sound propagation in situations with a high source or receiver.
