Recovery of cultured cells after fast neutron irradiation
article
In view of its importance for radiotherapy, the effects of dose fractionation have been investigated for 15 MeV neutrons and x-rays, using the reproductive capacity of cultured human cells as a criterion for survival. In the split-dose experiments either the magnitude of the second dose or the time interval between the two fractions was varied. After neutron irradiation a significant recovery effect has been observed, which is approximately a factor of two smaller than after x-irradiation.
