Data processing in EEG

article
Discusses methods of data collection, processing, and analysis of EEG recordings by computers. First, EEG recordings are converted to digital data from analog by "quantification," which reduces accuracy by losing information. This is minimized by frequency selection using the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). DFT is compared to "averaging," which is based on time, to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. Advantages and conditions for each are discussed. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
