The National Congress on Prevention & Health (NCPG) 2025 saw a lively exchange of views on a healthy future as a collective challenge. Does it help to enshrine health goals in law? Some argue in favor of this, while others have reservations. In any case, we can only achieve a healthy future through intersectoral (and interdepartmental) cooperation. Health for all residents of the Netherlands requires investments in making our (public) housing, infrastructure, education, spatial planning, economy, et cetera healthy. This intersectoral task requires a different approach from our public health professionals, namely that of experts who reach out and realize cooperation: with citizens, with other sectors, and with public and private partners.
