The importance of proliferation kinetics and clonogenicity of tumor cells for volume responses of experimental tumors after irradiation
bookPart
It may be clear from this discussion that studies on the cell kinetics of tumors before and after treatment are of fundamental importance to the understanding of the clinical effect of radiotherapy. Knowledge of changes in cell kinetics induced by therapy may also have a great bearing on the development of combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, the amount of cell kinetic data for both the normal and tumor tissue should be further enlarged in order to sort out successful combinations of therapy for different types of tumors.
