Impurity determination by thermal analysis: I The melting curve of a quickly frozen sample
article
The interpretation of melting curves is based on the assumption that thermodynamic equilibrium prevails throughout the solid and the liquid phase during the determination of the curve. A number of experimental circumstances resulting in insufficient thermodynamic equilibrium have been discussed in a previous paper. Attention has been paid to the limited mass transfer in the liquid and it has been shown that its influence may be neglected under suitable experimental conditions.
