Quantitative risk analysis of New Sea Sluice IJmuiden estimation of collision probability

conference paper
TNO has estimated the probability of collision and the associated collision energy for the new Sea Sluice (nZS) in IJmuiden in a (semi-) probabilistic manner. In this paper the method to determine the probability of collision leading to a loss of function for shipping, road traffic or high water retention is presented [1]. A distinction has been made between specific parts of the lock and between ship classes. This paper discusses the method for calculating the probability of collision and gives suggestions to further refine that method as part of a (semi)-probabilistic calculation of the collision risk in standards. The method to calculate the associated collision energy will be presented in a future paper.
