Cathodic & anodic protection. CP for Corroding reinforcement in concrete floor elements
article
Corrosion of reinforcement in precast concrete ground-floor elements with mixed-in chloride affects many houses in The Netherlands. Conventional repair is not durable. A cathodic protection (CP) system was developed to protect the reinforcement for its remaining service life. CP involves activated titanium-strip anodes and cementitious grouting. Monitoring procedures have been adjusted to suit a large number of small CP installations. The system will provide a service life of at least 25 years, and the cost of CP compares favorably to other solutions.
