A pollen-analytical study of cores from the Outer Silver Pit, North Sea
article
Pollen diagrams from clayey sediments from the sea floor in the Outer Silver Pit area (North Sea) have been obtained. The sedimentology of the sediments is discussed. Core lengths were of about 70-100 cm and cover the last few hundred years. The changes in the pollen diagrams can be compared well with those on the mainland. Coastal areas bordering the southern part of the North Sea provided the main source from where sub-contemporaneous pollen came. Pollen grains and spores reworked from boulder clay are also present. Sedimentation rates are discussed. © 1966.
