The Stereo Microscope: Stereo 3D images for complex remote soldering teaching
conference paper
This short paper presents a use case for remote training of a complex technical task (soldering) and further presents a novel approach for this use case using 3D stereoscopic capture. Our approach captures 3D stereo images from a microscope (on a “mobile” training station) and renders them comfortably in Augmented Reality (AR) glasses (Hololens 2). Finally, our approach makes the first step to allow “certified” soldering training over distance, but still raises the need for more technical test and user evaluations. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
