Enhancing the Adoption of Inclusive Technologies in the Workplace
conference paper
A substantial group of vulnerable individuals face challenges in transitioning from education to the labor market for various reasons. Inclusive technology has the potential to enhance labor market participation by reducing physical and cognitive barriers. However, the adoption of inclusive technologies in companies remains limited. This paper aims to explore the challenges companies face in adopting these technologies and the factors that determine successful implementation within organizations. We identified four key requirements for effective technology adoption in companies: (1) human-centered design and user-friendly interfaces; (2) training and awareness; (3) systematic integration and knowledge sharing; and (4) awareness of costs and benefits. Technology hubs play a crucial role in scaling technology by offering training and capacity building, sharing knowledge through various platforms, and pooling resources and talent. Nevertheless, methods for clearly articulating the costs and benefits of adopting technology are still lacking. Future research should focus on addressing this gap, as successful adoption of inclusive technologies will not only benefit vulnerable groups but also drive organizational growth and societal progress.
