Algoritmisch HRM: slim aan het werk met AI? Een bloemlezing van bijdrages in het themanummer Algoritmisch HRM

article
The rapid development and application of algorithms and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the content and organization of work. The use of these technologies within the HR domain is also known as Algorithmic HRM. The proliferation of AI and algorithm use raises all kinds of questions about the consequences for employees and HR professionals, from the impact on the quality of work to the implications for managing human resources. This editorial introduces the special issue Algorithmic HRM, which addresses the above questions based on five scholarly articles, three columns, an essay, a book review, a book tip, and a talk-with-the-practitioner. This diverse set of contributions makes clear that Algorithmic HRM can have both positive and negative consequences for employees and organizations, and emphasizes the importance of understanding the factors that tip this balance in the desired direction. The outcomes depend on the choices HR professionals and organizations make, with AI literacy playing a crucial role in making informed decisions.
