Energy efficiency benchmarking of glass furnaces
conference paper
This paper presents the most important results of a survey on energy consumption and efficiency of glass melting furnaces in the container and float glass industries in several countries. The survey is based on 1999 figures. The specific energy consumption is derived for about 150 furnaces and the values are corrected in order to allow direct comparison of the energy efficiency. The most energy-efficient furnace types and process conditions are identified.
