Control Tower Architecture for Multi– and Synchromodal Logistics with Real Time Data

conference paper
Most of the current Transport Management Systems (TMS) use static data to register and
coordinate chains. Mostly, predefined value chains are executed in the context of framework contracts. Process predictability is one of the major requirements. Exception handling and chain configuration based on real time availability data is most often not supported by a TMS, also because data is not always available. This paper presents a first draft of an innovative architecture that is capable to handle real time data for exception handling and transaction coordination. A set of rules coordinate value chain design, real time value chain coordination, and business transaction, thus providing full flexibility for catering with real time data. The main focus of this paper is on the definition of these rules.
