Protective clothing is associated with protection on one hand, but with increased energy cost an3 loss of physical performance on the other nand. For a variety of clothing and equipment, including body armour, CW protective clothing, respirator, load carriage systems and arctic clothing the physical loss of performance is analyzed and typical values of loss of performance are given.
