The procedures for the preparation of maceral concentrates by means of a large-scale density separation technique are described. These complete process, from sample selection, density range establishment, small scale experiments to the large scale density separation are described. The procedures have been applied to both the separation of vitrinites and to the separation of exinites. © 1993.
