Polymorphism, biogeography and systematics of Kotoracythere inconspicua (Brady, 1880) (Ostracoda: Pectocytheridae)
article
Kotoracythere inconspicua is for the first time reported from the West African coast. Several new records from Senegal and The Gambia update the species' known range and emphasize its circumtropical nature. No geographical variation was encountered, but the existence of polymorphism was established. The species probably originated by Miocene times in the equatorial Indo-West Pacific. Passive distribution by human shipping is inferred to have played a decisive role in the dispersal of the species, notably so in its migration across the Atlantic. -from Authors
