The cholesterol level in the blood serum of some population groups in New-Guinea

The cholest erol content of the blood serum of inhabitants of the lowlands and uplands of Netherlands New-Guinea is very low, 109 mg/100 ml in men and 134 mg/100 ml in women. The content becomes higher as contacts with western customs and food become closer; it increased to 183 mg per cent in men and 187 mg per cent in women. An explanation is offered of the differences between the groups examined.
