Studies on the physiology of nutrition in Surinam : V. Amylase, lipase and cholinesterase activity of the serum of diverse population groups

The amylase activity of the serum in Bushnegro and Javanese residents in Surinam was higher than in Europeans in that country. The lipase activity was lower in the Bushnegro than in the Javanese, Amerindians, and Europeans. The cholinesterase activity in Bushnegroes was lower, in Javanese and Amerindians higher than in the Europeans. The possibility of adaptation to the composition of the diet is discussed.
