Sound radiation from baffled, thin, rectangular plates

article
The radiation efficiencies of baffled, thin, rectangular plates carrying two-dimensional resonant vibration patterns are exactly determined for five different kinds of edge conditions. For the low frequency range simple approximation formulae are given. It is shown that more edge-constrained plates do not always have larger radiation efficiencies than less edge-constrained ones.
It also appears that, quantitatively, the radiation efficiencies for two-dimensional vibration patterns differ rather considerably from those for one-dimensional vibration patterns. © 1977 Hirzel Verlag
