Studies in group IV organometallic chemistry; XX. Addition of trialkyltin to substituted acetylenes: the structure of the addition products

The addition of trialkyltin hydrides to mono‐ and di‐substituted acetylenes has been studied more closely. The identity and geometry of the resulting 1:1 adducts have been established by means of GLC, IR and NMR spectroscopy, elementary analysis and degradation reactions. Both terminal and non‐terminal addition of the trialkylstannyl group has been observed. Trans‐addition of the Sn‐H bond across the triple bond seems to occur mainly.
