Allotypic markers of rhesus monkey immunoglobulin G

article
An allotypic specificity, Ma(1) ('Ma' signifies Macaca), of the rhesus monkey IgG is described; it was identified by an alloantiserum, anti Ma(1). Ma(1) is located on Fc fragments of IgG molecules. Family studies showed that the allotype Ma(1) is inherited; it occurred in 25% of the rhesus monkeys from a random population. Immunization with slightly polymerized IgG proved to be a suitable way to raise antiallotype antisera.
