Application of a measuring method for the dynamical behaviour of building structures
article
The dynamical properties of building structures have to be known for the prediction of possible annoyance by vibration and sound caused by vibrating machinery. A simple measuring method for these dynamical properties, making use of a falling steel ball as a driving force, is presented. The use of this measuring method is explained on the basis of some measuring results. With the now known dynamical properties of building structures, the well-known properties of mass-spring systems and the sound radiating properties of vibrating planes, predictions of disturbing sound levels are possible. © 1972.
