Electron microscopy of megakaryocytes in thin-layer agar cultures of mouse bone marrow
article
Individual hematopoietic cells in thin-layer agar cultures of mouse bone marrow were studied with the electron microscope. The fine structure of cells which morphologically resemble megakaryocytes and which we refer to as “candidate” megakaryocytes is described. Their comparison with the ultrastructure of recognizable femoral marrow megakaryocytes indicates that “candidate” megakaryocytes share features characteristic of megakaryocytes that are immature.
