Echo-akoestische applicaties van PVDF

article
There is considerable interest in the electrical properties of the semicrystalline polymer polyvinylidene ffuoride (PVDF), because its piezo- and pyroelectric response are the highest of all polymers known today. The strength of the piezo- and pyroelectric response of PVDF depends strongly on its crystalline form. The production process from the non-oriented c filn to the oriented ß film will be discussed. measurements have been made of the various factors that describe the properties of the piezoelectric polymer films.
A theory for calculation of the Q- and k-factor will be presented. Interesting properties and advantages as well as disadvantages of PVDF transducers over conventional transducers will be discussed.
