Data analysis of pyrolysis-mass spectrometric profiles generated with soft ionization detection: application to barley tissue profiles

article
In Py-DCI/MS profiles compounds are usually represented only by few peaks because of strongly reduced ionisation-induced fragmentation. Consequently, interrelations between components are less hidden by fragmentation patterns. Explorative data analysis can be applied to detect groups of related compounds and to select relevant intensities for subsequent structural analysis by MS/MS and/or HR/MS. This analytical strategy enables the evaluation of trends in profiles obtained from samples of complex (bio)chemical nature, as is demonstrated for isolated tissue elements from barley and malt kernels. © 1991.
