Results of speech intelligibility survey in cases of noise traumata
article
In this paper the development and aim of an industriel speech audiometer is described. With this method the industriel physician can determine, in industriel workers, the social validity of the hearing for understanding conversational speech. This discrimination loss can be expressed in an integer and can be determined in five minutes. The results of pure tone audiometry and speech audiometry of 679 male industriel workers are discussed. Besides, Fletchers' "Three Average System" is compared with the results obtained with the industriel speech audiometer. A description is given of the statistical analysis of the relation between pure tone and speech audiometry results. Finally the relation between the subjective hearing complaints with the results of speech audiograms are discussed. © 1969 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.
