A new approach to aircraft noise monitoring: ANIMO

conference paper
In this paper a new approach to aircraft noise monitoring is presented (ANIMO) in which measurements are combined with calculations. The calculations are based on two models. A dedicated emission model is used to calculate the source strength of the aircraft, developed in the European project called Imagine. The second model describes the sound propagation. The parameters of both models are updated with the use of measurements. Due to the combination of measurements and calculations it is possible to estimate the sound immission completely around the airport and not only at the measurement points. Also an acoustical forecast can be given using this model.
