Tumour induction in Rhesus monkeys after total body irradiation with X-rays and fission neutrons

article
The results presented in this communication are concerned with radiation carcinogenesis in Rhesus monkeys which were kept under continuous observation for periods exceeding 16 years following irradiation. The numbers of animals which developed malignant tumours versus the total number at risk are equal to 6/9 for the group irradiated with fission neutrons (dose range 2.3 to 4.4 Gy), 8/20 for the X-irradiated group (dose range 3.0 to 8.6 Gy) and 0/21 for the unirradiated control group, all of which are of comparable age distribution.
