Splijtvezels voor textiel
article
This article outlines some technical and economical aspects of split fibre manufacture. Since there is a growing interest to evaluate these fibres for application in the textile field, special attention is paid to some techniques of stretching and fibrillating. The different methods of transport and healing, as well as their influence on film properties, are briefly reviewed. As, of all fibrillation methods, controlled fibrillation appears to be the most important, the mechanism of this special type of splitting has been studied. Therefore, a new needle roll producing a very fine fibrillate has been developed. Finally, cost estimates of split fibre production are given.
