Byssinosis in a cotton weaving mill
article
The occurrence of byssinosis in cotton workers has been studied mainly in card- and blow room employees. Although it has been stated that the operations which follow the carding process are apparently without risk, no reference to respiratory function studies in cotton weavers could be found in the literature. In a report from India, Shivapuri and Varma, mention that in their series of 21 byssinosis cases, 13 occurred in weavers.
