Studies on the physiology of nutrition in Surinam : IV. Nitrogen balance studies
article
Nitrogen-balance tests were carried out in seven Bushnegro children, eleven Javanese children and one Hindustani boy, all residents of Surinam.
They were fed on a diet which as closely as possible resembled their home diet; it contained 4.7 g and 6.2 g nitrogen, respectively, daily, 0.6 g and 0.7 g of which was animal. They retained 0.82 g and 1.26 g nitrogen on the average, respectively. According to HEGSTED this quantity is amply sufficient.
