Electron and hole dynamics on isolated chains of a solution-processable poly(thienylenevinylene) derivative in dilute solution
article
The electron and hole dynamics on isolated chains of a solution-processable Poly(thienylenevinylene) (PTV) derivative in dilute solution was studied. Pulses of ionizing radiation were used to investigate the mobility and dynamics of the charge carriers on PTVs at the molecular level. It was observed that electrons were trapped at defects impurities within 4 μs. For the positive charges no trapping was observed. PTV was shown to act as a molecular wire for transport for both positive and negative charges, though the latter is very sensitive to trapping.
