The rapid development of biofiltration for the purification of various waste gas streams

report
Biofiltration is a new and relatively cheap waste gas purification tech nique. A very attractive aspect of biofiltration is the high removal ef ficiency for many odorous compounds. Due to a new filter material, con sisting of compost and bark, much higher surface loads are now possible; in a number of situations a surface load as high as 500 m 3 /m 2 /h can be applied with good removal efficiency and a low pressure drop. The degra dation of toluene, aldehydes and ammonia are discussed in detail. As a result of the recent developments, we anticipate a large increase in the field of application for biofiltration.
