Some designs in electron and ion optics

doctoral thesis
Chapter I describes how, by the application of magnetic lenses, the size of electron diffraction patterns can be made independent of the wavelength of the electron radiation. Chapter II deals with the principles which have led to a simplified microscope. Chapter III deals with the difficulties involved in obtaining accurate focussing in the electron microscope, and the means for getting sufficient accuracy. In chapter IV a mass spectroscope is described, in which two rotating, electric fields are used.
