Risk-Benefit assessment of the use of Perovskites in PeroCUBE devices: deliverable 7.1
report
This deliverable presents a quick tier-0 qualitative assessment of the use of perovskites in perovskite-based devices. It is the output of T7.1 and includes a qualitative assessment of the risks and benefits of these devices when compared with reference or ‘benchmark’ products.
Need for the Deliverable. The overall objective of WP 7 is to assess the potential human health and environmental risks and to provide a life cycle assessment to balance the risks and benefits of the application of perovskite-based devices in energy harvesting and lighting applications. In line with a tiered approach, a qualitative assessment is first needed so that a quick scan of risks and benefits of these devices can be made and relevant ‘red flags’ (related to the potential risks) can be identified timely. This allows a pro-active approach towards the elimination of any potential risk and thus ensures sustainable development of the devices along their innovation value chain, i.e. safety-by-design.
